Raymond Archer, a former investigative journalist, has been appointed as the Acting Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
His appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of the state agency tasked with investigating and prosecuting financial and organised crimes.
Mr Archer replaces Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah, who previously held the role in an acting capacity. Sources indicate that Mr Dapilah has been reassigned to the National Security Secretariat, where he is expected to serve as a technical advisor.

Archer brings to the role a background in investigative journalism, known for his in-depth reporting on corruption and economic malpractice. His transition into public service, particularly at EOCO, is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the agency’s resolve in tackling complex financial crimes, money laundering, and corporate fraud.
EOCO, operating under the Ministry of Justice, has a broad mandate to prevent and detect organised crime and to recover the proceeds of such crimes. With increasing public interest in transparency and accountability, Mr Archer’s appointment is expected to bring renewed momentum to the office’s operations.
