Prof Douglas Boateng unveils 2 books with UJ Press, Exclusive Books in South Africa …moment set to ignite Africa’s industrial future

In a landmark event for African scholarship and industry, two pivotal books — Compendium of Supply Chain Management Terms and Strategic Sourcing and Industrialisation — were officially launched at Exclusive Books, Rosebank Mall, Johannesburg, in partnership with the University of Johannesburg Press (UJ Press).

The launch marked more than a literary milestone; it signalled the beginning of a Pan-African intellectual and industrial awakening rooted in local knowledge, collaborative strategy, and the transformative power of African-authored content.

Hosted by Exclusive Books — the continent’s largest bookseller — and UJ Press, one of Africa’s leading academic publishers, the event reflected a shared commitment to capacity building and long-term continental transformation.

“These are not just books; they are instruments of nation building,” said Professor Douglas Boateng, the internationally acclaimed author and Africa’s pioneering advocate for supply chain governance. “No nation can industrialise without mastering strategic sourcing and supply chain management. Africa must think, plan, and act with purpose.”

The occasion was recorded for broadcast across West Africa and other regions, showcasing South African publishing leadership and extending the reach of vital African scholarship.

Among the dignitaries present was Ronald Malazi, Managing Director of Commerce Edge South Africa, the continent’s largest privately owned supply chain training institution. He stressed the role of collaboration in shaping Africa’s future.

“The Africa we dream of will be built by those who learn together and work together,” he said. “We must continue sharing ideas, building capacity, and advancing for the common good.”

Wikus van Zyl, Manager of UJ Press, described the publications as central to the university’s mission.

“At UJ Press, we publish with a purpose. Our goal is to empower minds and shape meaningful progress.”

Shylock Matsunyane, Assistant Manager at Exclusive Books Rosebank, added:

“It’s an honour to launch books that don’t just sit on shelves but help move a continent. We’re proud to be part of this legacy.”

As part of a broader strategy, Professor Boateng will soon embark on a Pan-African Industrialisation and Strategic Sourcing Roadshow. The initiative will include public lectures, executive sessions, and knowledge-sharing forums aimed at building capacity, inspiring change, and engaging youth, women, and leaders across multiple African nations.

The event concluded with personally signed copies given to select attendees — a symbolic gesture underscoring the role of accessible, practical knowledge in driving Africa’s transformation.

This was more than a book launch. It was a continental call to action — for strategic thought, industrial resolve, and a united vision for Africa’s self-determined future.
