The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested Nii Baah Afful, the man seen in a viral video viciously assaulting a young woman who was carrying a baby.
The disturbing footage, which sparked widespread public outrage, showed Afful repeatedly striking the woman with a stick after she informed him that she had found a new partner who was “more handsome and responsible” and no longer wished to be with him.
Following calls from advocacy groups and concerned citizens for swift action, the police have confirmed that Afful is in custody and assisting with investigations.

“The suspect, Nii Baah Afful, is currently in police custody, assisting the investigations, and will be put before the court to face justice,” the police statement read.
Authorities have assured the public that the case will be handled with urgency, emphasising their commitment to ensuring justice for the victim.
