Police in the Volta Region have arrested 10 suspects in connection with the shooting incident at the Ho Central Mosque that left several worshippers injured, marking a significant breakthrough in investigations into the violent attack.
The shooting occurred on the morning of Friday, December 26, amid heightened tensions at the mosque, sending shockwaves through the Muslim community and the wider Ho municipality.
Confirming the arrests, the Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Francis Gomado, told Citi News that all 10 suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.

According to him, while the arrests represent a major step forward, the probe is far from over. Police are actively pursuing other suspects believed to have played key roles in the attack but who fled the scene in a pickup vehicle shortly after the shooting.
“Ten persons have so far been arrested in connection with the attack, while those who arrived in a pickup vehicle fled the scene. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the remaining suspects to assist with police investigations,” Chief Inspector Gomado stated.
He disclosed that investigators are also examining the underlying causes of the violence, including a long-standing leadership dispute within the Ho Central Mosque, which police believe may have contributed to the tensions that culminated in the shooting.
Chief Inspector Gomado assured residents that the security situation in Ho remains under control, noting that the police are working closely with other security agencies to maintain calm and prevent any further disturbances.
He appealed to the Muslim community and the general public to remain calm and cooperate fully with law enforcement as investigations continue.
“The 10 individuals arrested are currently in police custody. We urge the Muslim community to remain calm and allow the police to handle the matter,” he added.
Police say updates will be provided as investigations progress and as efforts intensify to apprehend the remaining suspects linked to the incident.
