Ghana’s Parliament has formally approved Dr. Edward Omane Boamah as the country’s new Defence Minister, following a tense and extensive debate on the ninth report of the Appointments Committee.
His swearing-in by President John Dramani Mahama is now awaiting confirmation, marking another key moment in the ongoing process of ministerial appointments.

Among the other successful nominees were Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who was confirmed for the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and Tia Ibrahim, who will take on the role as Minister for the North East Region.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene was also confirmed as the Minister for the Ashanti Region, and Akamugri Atanga Donatus was approved as the Upper East Regional Minister-designate.
The rapid succession of approvals follows a series of vetting sessions held throughout the week, beginning with the vetting of several ministerial nominees on January 27. On January 29, the seventh report of the Appointments Committee was debated in Parliament, paving the way for further confirmations.
