Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State and President of the Asogli Traditional Area, has expressed strong support for President John Dramani Mahama’s fight against corruption and recovery of state assets through the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative.
The ORAL Committee, established to investigate corruption and recover stolen public resources, is currently processing over 700 petitions from citizens, signalling widespread public engagement in the fight against graft.
During President Mahama’s “Thank You Tour” in the Volta Region on January 24, Togbe Afede praised the President’s commitment to governance, accountability, and the restoration of stolen state assets.
“ORAL was great news for all of us. It’s bad enough to suffer, but it’s worse to know you are suffering because a few people think they deserve all that the state has to offer,” Togbe Afede remarked. “We support your intentions and plans to retrieve everything that was lost—funds, lands, buildings, etc. You have our fullest support.”
Togbe Afede also commended President Mahama’s directive for appointees to declare their assets, describing it as “heartwarming” and a bold step toward ensuring integrity in public office.
Highlighting the President’s reset agenda, the Agbogbomefia praised its focus on governance reforms and accountability, calling it a brave and transformative move.
“Ghanaians have welcomed your reset agenda, a brave fight against corruption,” he said. “We appreciate the fact that you are moving at the speed of light to address the nation’s challenges.”
Togbe Afede further lauded the government’s vision for a 24-hour economy and other innovative initiatives, describing them as forward-thinking steps toward national development.
The traditional leader’s endorsement reflects growing support for President Mahama’s anti-corruption drive and governance reforms, aimed at rebuilding public trust and fostering economic progress.
