ORAL Committee Reviews 700 Petitions, Report to Be Submitted to Mahama Soon
The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed it is processing over 700 petitions from the public as part of its mandate to recover looted state assets and ensure accountability.
Speaking to Citi News, Ablakwa, who is also the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, announced that the committee’s final report would soon be submitted to President John Dramani Mahama. He described the volume of petitions as a testament to public demand for justice and transparency.
“We are still compiling all the cases, and we will be presenting our report to the president soon,” Ablakwa said. “The 700 petitions received reflect the magnitude of public concern, and while it has been a daunting task, we are determined to deliver thorough and credible findings.”
The committee is currently conducting a rigorous validation process to verify its data and ensure accuracy. Ablakwa indicated that while validation efforts in the capital are nearly complete, the committee will extend the process to all regions in the coming days.
“We’re now wrapping up in the capital, where a lot of the looting is reported to have occurred. Starting this weekend, we’ll head out of the capital to validate cases across other regions,” he explained.
Ablakwa emphasised that the ORAL Committee’s work serves as a deterrent to corruption, showcasing the government’s commitment to accountability.
“This initiative demonstrates the same passion for accountability we showed in opposition. Now that we’re in government, we remain unwavering in our commitment to combat corruption and restore public trust,” he stated.
