Okaikwei North to Get More Roads Under 2027 Budget – MCE
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Okaikwei North-Central, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, has outlined ongoing and planned road infrastructure projects aimed at improving mobility, drainage and living conditions across communities in the municipality.
Mr Badger said his administration had commenced work on some outstanding road projects, particularly in parts of Okaikwei North, as part of efforts to address persistent road challenges confronting residents.
According to him, the assembly is determined to improve road networks within communities and ensure that residents have better access to their homes, businesses and other essential services.
He disclosed that the municipality had also benefited from the implementation of the Garried Projects, which he said had significantly improved the infrastructure landscape in several communities.
He mentioned Nii-Boi Town, Akweteyman and Alogoshie among areas where road and drainage works had been undertaken.
The projects, he said, include the construction of asphalt roads and drains, which have improved accessibility while helping to address some drainage challenges in the affected communities.
Hon. Badger said the ongoing interventions formed part of his administration’s broader commitment to improving infrastructure and transforming communities within Okaikwei North-Central.
Looking ahead, the MCE disclosed that additional road projects would be captured in the municipality’s next budget to extend development to communities within Okaikwei North.
He said the move would enable the assembly to respond to outstanding road infrastructure needs and ensure that more communities benefit from improved roads and related infrastructure.
“Next year's budget will factor in projects within the Okaikwei North communities,” he stressed.
He also disclosed that the Municipal Road Engineer had identified and captured a number of roads for development, including roads around the taxi rank and racecourse.
The inclusion of the roads in the municipal planning process, he explained, would pave the way for further interventions as resources became available.
The MCE said the assembly would continue to prioritise projects that have a direct impact on residents, particularly roads, drains and other basic infrastructure.
He expressed confidence that the planned interventions, together with ongoing works, would contribute to opening up communities, improving transportation and enhancing economic activity within Okaikwei North-Central.
Hon. Badger further stressed the importance of ensuring that infrastructure development was spread across the municipality so that residents in underserved communities could also benefit from government and assembly projects.
The planned projects, he said, reflect the assembly’s commitment to addressing infrastructure gaps while creating a more accessible and better-connected Okaikwei North-Central Municipality.
