Okaikwei North MCE Commends Former MCE, Patrick Boamah, for Road Projects
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Okaikwei North-Central, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, has commended his predecessor, Hon. Boye Laryea, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei Central, Hon. Patrick Boamah, for their contributions to road infrastructure development in the municipality.
According to Mr Badger, his predecessor, Hon. Boye Laryea, undertook several road projects during his tenure, including the construction of asphalt roads and the provision of paving blocks for inner roads leading to homes and communities.
He described the projects as significant interventions that had improved accessibility and the general outlook of several communities within the municipality.
“My former MCE did a lot of work in the municipality, especially on roads. He made asphalt roads and paving blocks on the inner roads to various houses in the communities. It was marvellous,” he said.
However, Mr Badger noted that some of the road projects initiated under the previous administration, particularly in parts of Okaikwei North, were not completed.
He said his administration had therefore begun work on some of the outstanding projects as part of efforts to improve road connectivity and address the infrastructure needs of residents.
The MCE also highlighted the impact of the Garried Projects on infrastructure development in the municipality.
He said the projects had given the municipality a new face, particularly in communities such as Nii-Boi Town, Akweteyman and Alogoshie.
According to him, the construction of asphalt roads and drains under the Garried Projects had significantly improved the infrastructure situation in several communities across the Okaikwei area.
“Garried Projects has added another face to the municipality, especially around Nii-Boi Town, Akweteyman and Alogoshie. The Garried Project has uplifted the municipality, as asphalt roads and drains have been made in various communities in the Okaikwei constituency,” he stated.
Mr Badger further disclosed that the assembly's next budget would make provision for development projects within communities in Okaikwei North.
He said the move was intended to ensure that communities that continued to face road and drainage challenges received the necessary attention.
“Next year's budget will factor in projects within the Okaikwei North communities,” he stressed.
The MCE also commended the MP for Okaikwei North, Hon. Theresa Awuni, for her contribution to infrastructure development in the constituency.
He said the MP had facilitated the construction of concrete-block roads at the market and in some inner lanes within the communities.
Additionally, Mr Badger disclosed that the Municipal Road Engineer had captured a number of roads for possible development, including roads around the taxi rank and racecourse.
He said the assembly would continue to work with Members of Parliament and other stakeholders to improve road infrastructure, drainage and accessibility across the municipality.
Mr Badger emphasised that sustained investment in roads and drainage infrastructure remained essential to improving living conditions and promoting economic activity within Okaikwei North-Central.
