No Diplomatic Passport for Fella Makafui — Passport Office
The Ghana Passport Office has strongly dismissed viral social media claims suggesting that actress Fella Makafui has been issued a Service or Diplomatic Passport, describing the allegation as false, misleading, and deserving of public disregard.
In a firm statement shared on its official Facebook page, the Office urged the public to treat the claims with contempt, stressing that no such special passport has been issued to the actress.
“Please disregard and treat with contempt the blatant falsehood that Fella Makafui has been issued a service or diplomatic passport," the statement said.
It clarified that Fella Makafui, like all ordinary Ghanaian citizens, holds and uses a standard Ghanaian passport and nothing beyond that.
The Office cautioned against the spread of misinformation, warning that individuals who circulate unverified claims risk misleading the public and damaging the credibility of state institutions.
The response follows a controversial social media post by P.K. Sarpong, which alleged preferential treatment in the issuance of passports and referenced several public figures in a heated online commentary that quickly gained traction.
The post triggered widespread debate online, prompting the official clarification from the Passport Office to set the record straight.
Authorities have in recent times intensified warnings against misinformation on social media, particularly content that involves public officials, celebrities, and sensitive state processes.
The Passport Office reiterated its commitment to transparency and equal access to travel documents for all eligible Ghanaian citizens, regardless of status or public profile.
