NIB Storms Ntim Fordjour’s Residence to Arrest him – Justin Kodua Alleges

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has alleged that operatives from the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) have attempted to arrest the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.

In a brief but pointed Facebook post on Wednesday, April 9, Mr. Kodua claimed that NIB officials were “currently at Hon. Ntim Fordjour’s residence to arrest him,” sparking concerns about the safety and freedom of the legislator, who has been at the centre of recent national security debates.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who also serves as the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has been vocal in raising alarm over a series of alleged “suspicious flights” said to have landed at the Kotoka International Airport—flights he believes may be linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.

His exposé has stirred political controversy and divided public opinion, with the government strongly refuting the claims. Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, dismissed the allegations as “baseless” and “a waste of time”.

The alleged attempt to arrest Rev. Fordjour, if confirmed, could add a new layer of tension to the already heated national conversation surrounding the flights and Ghana’s commitment to combatting transnational crime.

As of now, no official comment has been issued by the National Investigation Bureau regarding the claim. Attempts to verify whether an arrest warrant was issued or the visit was part of standard investigative procedures have not yielded immediate responses.

Meanwhile, members of the opposition and civil society have started calling for transparency and protection of whistle-blowers, warning against any acts of political intimidation.

This is a developing story.
