The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) is waiting on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, to grant permission for the release of the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, to assist in investigations into serious allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering.
This was disclosed by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, during an appearance on Face to Face on Channel One TV.
According to the minister, Rev. Ntim Fordjour has yet to honor invitations from security agencies following his recent claims that two aircraft landed in Ghana carrying illicit drugs and large sums of cash. The MP’s assertions have since raised public concern and triggered calls for a thorough investigation.

“The NIB wrote to the Speaker to release Ntim Fordjour. The Speaker is yet to respond to the NIB, as far as I am aware,” Kwakye Ofosu said. “Anytime the Speaker responds to it, he will be available for questions.”
Kwakye Ofosu stressed the importance of transparency in addressing the allegations and revealed that he has recommended that the interrogation, once approved, be made public.
“I have requested that the interrogation be released to the public,” he added, indicating the government’s desire for openness in handling the matter.
The development comes amid growing scrutiny over the MP’s bold claims, which have yet to be substantiated with evidence. Meanwhile, the public awaits an official response from Speaker Bagbin on whether parliamentary immunity will be waived to allow for Rev. Fordjour’s questioning.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who previously served as Deputy Education Minister, has not issued any further statements since making the allegations.
The NIB and government officials have reiterated their commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability, regardless of political affiliations.
