NIB Arrests Kofi Ofosu Nkansah Over Scholarship‑For‑Sale Claim

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has been taken into custody by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) to clarify his claims regarding the sale of government-sponsored overseas scholarships.

Dzifa Gunu, CEO of Ghana Digital Centres Limited, confirmed on Facebook that Nkansah was picked up after reportedly refusing earlier invitations from the NIB to provide evidence supporting his allegations.

“Kofi Ofosu Nkansah has been picked up by the NIB to substantiate his allegations of the sale of foreign scholarships.

“He is currently in the grips of the NIB after refusing their invitation,” Gunu noted.

The development follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama, who instructed the NIB to launch a full-scale investigation into the claims. The President’s decision was communicated by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Fosu, after Nkansah made the allegations during a widely circulated radio discussion on Sompa 106.5 FM.

In the broadcast, Nkansah alleged that an individual made payments to secure scholarships for studies abroad, raising questions about fairness, transparency, and integrity in the award of government-sponsored educational opportunities.

A formal communication dated February 3, 2026, described the allegations as “serious and of grave public concern” and tasked the NIB with establishing the facts, identifying any persons involved, and determining the veracity of the claims. The findings are to be submitted directly to the President for consideration and any appropriate action.
