‘NDC won’t have peace in Parliament if they resist our victory in Ablekuma North’ – Annoh-Dompreh

Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has vowed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will disrupt parliamentary proceedings until the representation of the Ablekuma North Constituency in Parliament is resolved.

The collation of results for the constituency has been stalled for the past month due to disputes over the outcome. At one point, tensions escalated, leading to the destruction of property at the Electoral Commission’s regional office.

Addressing party supporters after visiting the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency, Ekua Afriyie, Annoh-Dompreh issued a warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating that they would not have peace in Parliament until the issue was settled.

“If the NDC, led by Mahama Ayariga, continues to deny that the NPP won the seat and disrupt the Electoral Commission’s process, they will never have peace in Parliament,” he declared.

He further called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take action against NDC supporters allegedly involved in damaging the collation exercise. Failure to do so, he warned, would lead to continued demonstrations by the NPP in Parliament.

Annoh-Dompreh also issued a one-week ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC) to announce the final result of the constituency election.

“We are giving the EC one week; they must come and declare our candidate as the winner of the Ablekuma North election,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, both NDC’s Ewurabena Aubyn and NPP’s Ekua Afriyie have put up billboards in the constituency claiming victory in the disputed election, further intensifying tensions.
