NDC Supported Assault 2 VALCO Security Officers
Two security officers of the Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) were attacked on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, by individuals alleged to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The attackers reportedly invaded VALCO’s premises, attempting to lock the offices of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Deputy CEO in an act apparently tied to the end of President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
Kwame Abubakar Essuman, Director of Human Resources and Administration at VALCO, confirmed the incident, stating that one officer sustained injuries from the attack.
“One of our officers was hit from behind with a stick, causing swelling on his head and general body pain. Fortunately, he has been treated and discharged,” Mr. Essuman explained.
The Tema Newtown District Police Command has responded to the incident, assuring the management of VALCO that security will be reinforced to prevent any further disruptions.
