MTN, Telecel, and AT to Increase Bundles from July 1

In a major development for mobile users, the government has announced that all three major mobile network operators in Ghana — MTN, Telecel, and AT — will increase their data bundle offerings beginning Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Samuel Nartey George, during a press conference held on Tuesday, June 10.

According to the minister, the adjustment forms part of efforts to make data more accessible and affordable for Ghanaians amid growing demand for internet services.

“Starting July 1, AT-Tigo Ghana will offer a 10% increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network. Additionally, the GHC400 bundle, which currently offers 195 gigabytes of data, will now offer 236 gigabytes,” Mr George said.

He added that Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (Telecel) will also implement a 10% increase in their bundle offerings. Notably, Telecel’s GHC400 bundle — currently offering 90 gigabytes — will rise sharply to 250 gigabytes.

In what appears to be the most generous adjustment, MTN Ghana (Scancom Ghana Limited) is set to implement a 15% increase across its data bundles.

The minister revealed that MTN’s popular GHC399 bundle, which had been downgraded to GHC350 for 92.88 gigabytes, will be restored to 214 gigabytes for GHC399.

“We are pleased to announce the reinstatement of data value for MTN customers, and we expect this to bring relief to heavy data users across the country,” the minister added.

The increase in bundle sizes follows months of public outcry over rising data costs and shrinking data volumes. The government hopes this move will help ease pressure on consumers and promote digital inclusion.

The ministry also hinted at ongoing engagements with telcos to improve network infrastructure and quality of service, especially in underserved areas.
