MTN One TV Marks New Chapter in Company's Digital Transformation — Misto
MTN Ghana Chief Digital Officer, Ibrahim Misto, says the launch of MTN One TV marks another step in the company's transformation from a traditional telecommunications provider into a digital platform business connecting businesses, startups and entire ecosystems.
He said the company was expanding beyond its traditional voice and data services to develop platforms and partnerships that support innovation, enterprise and opportunities within Ghana’s digital economy.
Speaking at the launch of MTN One TV, Mr Misto said the new streaming service represented part of MTN's vision to use technology to improve lives and support the growth of different sectors of the economy.
“Today, we are a platform business connecting businesses, startups, whole ecosystems, and helping them scale and then thrive,” he said.
MTN One TV is a Pan-African video streaming service offering local movies, series, live channels and international programming, with flexible viewing options for consumers.
Mr Misto explained that the platform would connect content creators, content owners, broadcasters, advertisers and audiences, creating opportunities for collaboration across the digital entertainment industry.
He said MTN wanted to work closely with industry stakeholders to understand their challenges, identify opportunities and develop partnerships that deliver value to both creators and consumers.
“Today's conference marks the launch of one of those platforms for MTN and opens an invitation to the industry to collaborate,” he said.
Mr Misto emphasised that collaboration would be critical to the future of Ghana's creative industry, particularly as consumers increasingly demand quality content that can be accessed anytime, anywhere and on any device.
He called for stronger partnerships among content creators, broadcasters, telecommunications operators, technology providers, regulators and investors to attract investment and expand opportunities for Ghanaian talent.
He also highlighted the economic and cultural benefits of developing a stronger digital content ecosystem, saying it could create new revenue streams for creative professionals while preserving Ghana's cultural identity.
According to him, local stories reflect the country's history, languages, traditions and values, making their presence in digital spaces important for future generations.
The launch comes as MTN Ghana marks 30 years of operations under the theme "30 Years of Progress, Powered by You".
Mr Misto said the anniversary offered the company an opportunity to reflect on its contribution to connecting people, businesses and communities while looking ahead to new areas of growth.
He reaffirmed MTN Ghana's commitment to developing digital solutions, platforms and partnerships that would help advance the country's digital economy.
He urged stakeholders to work together to build a vibrant, sustainable and future-ready creative industry that gives Ghanaian stories greater reach and creates opportunities for local talent.
