MASLOC CEO Hajia Abibata Zakariah Resigns with Immediate Effect

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah, has officially resigned from her position, effective immediately.

Her resignation letter, dated January 31, 2025, was addressed to the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President and copied to the Secretary to the President. The Chief of Staff officially received it on February 4, 2025.

Hajia Abibata, one of the longest-serving CEOs of MASLOC, held leadership roles within the organisation for eight years—first as Deputy CEO from 2017 to 2021 and later as the substantive CEO from 2021 to 2025 under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In her resignation letter, she described her tenure as a privilege, emphasising that it was the right moment to step aside for new leadership.

“I am writing to formally resign from my position as Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre with immediate effect. Over the years, it has been a privilege to serve and contribute to the growth and success of MASLOC. However, I believe this is the right moment for me to step down and allow new leadership to guide the organisation,” she stated.

She expressed gratitude to MASLOC’s board, management, and staff for their support and pledged to ensure a smooth transition. Hajia Abibata also thanked former President Nana Akufo-Addo for the trust and confidence he placed in her, describing her appointments as a reflection of his commitment to empowering women in leadership.
