Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, took the global stage at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Monday, delivering the keynote address at the 7th Annual Prayer Service for Children.
The event, held at the Church Centre for the United Nations, Tillman Chapel in New York, was convened on the margins of the 80th UN General Assembly. It was organised by World Vision International in partnership with leading global faith-based and humanitarian organisations.
This year’s theme, “A Moment of Hope”, focused on six pillars—hope, compassion, resilience, purpose, joy, wisdom, and spiritual life—against the backdrop of global crises that continue to threaten children’s well-being.

Mrs Mahama’s participation underscored her deep commitment to advancing the welfare and protection of children in Ghana and across the world. Over the years, she has championed initiatives to expand access to education, healthcare, and social support for vulnerable children, making her an influential voice on child-centred development.
Other distinguished speakers included Rev. Andrew J. Morley, President and CEO of World Vision International, and Mrs Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme.
The Prayer Service brought together world leaders, humanitarian partners, and interfaith leaders to reflect, pray, and call for urgent collective action to improve the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children.
