Kpandai Rerun: ‘Wherever My Destiny Lands Me, So Be It’ – Nyindam

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpandai Constituency, Hon. Mathew Nyindam, says he remains calm and hopeful as his legal battle over the annulled 2024 parliamentary election heads to the Supreme Court for a crucial determination.

Speaking to JoyNews on Tuesday, December 9, Nyindam said he is placing his trust in the legal process and in God as he awaits the next stage of the case.

“We are in the Appeal Court, and we are still waiting. The Supreme Court has set a date of December 16 to listen to us,” he said. “The rest is a matter for the lawyers; it is technical. Whichever way they want to go, I believe that I have a God. Everybody is destined one way or another. Wherever my destiny lands me, so be it.”

Nyindam’s remarks follow a ruling by the Tamale High Court that annulled his election victory and ordered a rerun in the Kpandai Constituency within 30 days. The court’s decision triggered a series of official actions, including the declaration of the seat as vacant.

Parliament, acting on the ruling, formally informed the Electoral Commission (EC) of the vacancy. In a letter dated December 4, 2025, Clerk to Parliament Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror notified EC Chairperson Jean Mensa that the November 24 judgement in Suit Number NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25 necessitated a fresh election.

The communication, issued pursuant to Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution, officially activates the legal and administrative processes required for the rerun.
