The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly dismissed the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) declaration that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is a fugitive, calling the claim “unreasonable.”
At a press conference held at the party’s headquarters on Thursday, the NPP’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, criticized the OSP’s decision, arguing that it lacked merit.
“Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta can never be a fugitive. He is not a fugitive, and he will never be a fugitive. The OSP got it wrong,” Nana B asserted.

He emphasized that since assuming public office in 2017, Ofori-Atta has always cooperated with legal proceedings and will continue to do so in the current matter.
Nana B also cautioned the OSP against making what he described as “sensational statements” that could inflame public sentiment and create unnecessary drama.
He argued that the issue could have been handled through formal communication rather than public declarations.
He further assured the OSP that the former minister, who is currently receiving medical treatment in the United States, would return to Ghana to assist with the investigation once his treatment was complete.
The OSP, in a statement issued on Wednesday, February 12, declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive, alleging that he had failed to present himself for questioning regarding possible cases of corruption.
The declaration has since sparked heated debate, with the NPP firmly rejecting the characterisation and calling for a more measured approach to the ongoing investigations.
