Kasoa: 2 Landguards, 12 ‘National Security Officers’ Remanded For Demolishing 60 Houses
The Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Nana Asantewaa Attakorah on Friday, February 20, 2025, remanded two notorious landguards and 12 individuals reported to be national security officers into police custody following a demolition exercise conducted by the group.
The group, in the early hours of Thursday, stormed the Gomoa Akoti community in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, where they unlawfully demolished over 60 houses at various stages of completion.
Four charges, including conspiracy to commit crime, using force and violence to prevent lawful landowners, causing fear and panic, and unlawful destruction, were pressed against the individuals following their arrest by the Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command.

The suspects’ plea to be granted bail was rejected by the court given the gravity of the destruction, and they were remanded into police custody to reappear before the same court on 4th March, 2026.
“I’m very happy about the outcome of the event. But I’ll be happier if they are finally jailed because I became very terrified about what occurred.
“I wouldn’t know where they would have taken my siblings but for the timely arrival of the police,” Juliana Asane, a property owner who witnessed the court proceedings, reacted to the development.
Meanwhile, traditional authorities of Gomoa Akoti have called on the police to intensify their operations in the area to flush out land guards who appear to be resuming their operations in the area.
