Joyce Bawa Mogtari Slams NPP Over ‘Baseless and Unjustified’ Vehicle Acquisition Allegations

Presidential adviser and special aide to President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, has strongly condemned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what she describes as baseless and unjustified attempts to malign her over the lawful acquisition of a personal vehicle.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mogtari accused the NPP of engaging in tactics aimed at undermining her integrity following their defeat in the 2024 general elections. She dismissed the allegations against her, stating that the acquisition was done in full compliance with her Conditions of Service and all legal requirements.

“Since their crushing defeat in the last election, the NPP’s strategy appears to be nothing more than ‘tickle yourself and laugh.’ They have resorted to baseless, needless, and unjustified tactics of seeking to undermine my person for the lawful acquisition of a vehicle for personal use,” she wrote.

She argued that if there had been any legal breaches regarding the vehicle’s purchase, the NPP should have presented evidence rather than resorting to unfounded accusations. She further emphasised that no investigations or complaints had been made against her concerning the acquisition.

Mogtari clarified that vehicle valuations are conducted by the State Transport Company (STC), which follows established criteria for determining prices. She questioned why critics were attacking her instead of directing their concerns at STC for transparency regarding valuation processes.

“Valuations of vehicles are done by STC, and as the experts, they have their established criteria for conducting valuations on vehicles, so it is completely out of place for anyone to attack me for the price of the vehicle when the real questions should be directed at STC to lay bare the parameters for conducting valuations to determine prices of vehicles,” she stated.

Expressing frustration over repeated accusations, Mogtari warned that she would no longer tolerate false and malicious publications against her, threatening legal action against those propagating such claims.

“Notice is hereby given that, unlike before, I won’t hesitate to take legal action against such perpetrators of such false and malicious publications,” she cautioned.

Concluding her remarks, she took a swipe at the NPP, asserting that their electoral defeat was a testament to their incompetence and poor governance.

“It is not surprising that Ghanaians kicked the incompetent and nation-wrecking NPP party out of government,” she added.
