The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, has commended Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Ghana’s immediate past finance minister, for his exceptional leadership and significant contributions to stabilising Ghana’s economy during his tenure.
In a farewell letter, Ms. Georgieva praised Dr. Amin Adam’s dedication to implementing Ghana’s $3 billion IMF-supported program, which she said was vital in restoring macroeconomic stability, ensuring debt sustainability, and promoting inclusive growth amid economic challenges.
“You have had a profound impact on Ghana and its citizens,” Ms. Georgieva stated. “Your efforts have not only strengthened Ghana’s economy but have also inspired confidence in the country’s future.”
The IMF chief also acknowledged Dr. Amin Adam’s role in steering Ghana through critical reforms under the IMF program, laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth. She lauded his pragmatic leadership, which she said had a lasting positive effect on the country’s financial stability.
Ms. Georgieva expressed confidence that Dr. Amin Adam’s leadership will continue to shape Ghana’s development as he assumes his role as a reelected Member of Parliament.
“I have every confidence that you will continue to make a meaningful difference,” she noted. “Your passion for public service and commitment to positive change will inspire many.”
