Renowned actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has confirmed that her nine-year marriage to Maxwell Mensah has officially ended, revealing that the decision was reached amicably after a challenging period in her life.
Speaking in an interview, McBrown disclosed that the past two years were among the most difficult she has experienced, marked by struggles in her marriage, career, and health areas she described as deeply important to her.
“All three fell apart at different times,” she said, adding that surviving those challenges has made her stronger and more resilient.

The award-winning actress emphasised that the separation was peaceful and mutual, rejecting narratives often associated with bitter divorces.
“We didn’t go through it like the bitter ones. We were both tired. We sat down, talked, and decided to move on peacefully. Yes, I’m divorced. I am, and I’m not ashamed to say it. Divorce is not the end for a woman,” McBrown stated.
She further revealed that the cordial nature of the separation has allowed both parties to maintain a healthy and respectful relationship, including continued interaction with extended family.
“Me and my husband are cool. We spoke yesterday. We speak today. We speak tomorrow. We meet. I go to our house, meet my in-laws and everything. We are the best of friends,” she noted.
McBrown described her daughter, Maxin, as the most valuable outcome of the marriage, calling her “priceless” and a constant source of joy.
Despite the emotional weight of the experience, the actress said she is now in a positive mental and emotional space.
“As I speak now, I am the happiest; I am a happy woman,” she affirmed.
She also offered words of encouragement to women going through similar situations, urging them not to lose hope and reminding them that survival, especially through serious health challenges, is evidence of divine grace.
