Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, has clarified that he is not a member of any secret society within the Catholic Church.
During his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on February 25, 2025, Dumelo reaffirmed his commitment to the Catholic faith, even carrying a rosary with him.
However, when Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin questioned him about any affiliation with Catholic fraternities or societies, Dumelo firmly denied any such involvement.

“I don’t belong to any society in the Catholic Church,” he stated.
While acknowledging the existence of various Catholic groups, such as the Knights and Ladies of Marshall and the Knights and Ladies of St. John, Dumelo insisted that he has no knowledge of their activities.
“I am familiar with them but not familiar with their dealings,” he added.
The Catholic Church has numerous societies dedicated to promoting Christian values and service, but Dumelo made it clear that his faith is personal and unaffiliated with any specific group.
