The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Hon. Sam Nartey George has directed the National Communications Authority (NCA) to immediately crack down on several entities operating without valid frequency authorisations, in violation of Section 2(4) of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775).
The enforcement action targets the following broadcasters:
- Fire Group of Companies, Sunyani—90.1 MHz
- I-Zar Consult Limited, Tamale—89.7 MHz
- Abochannel Media Group, Adidome—105.7 MHz
- Okyeame Radio Limited, Bibiani—99.7 MHz
- Mumen Bono Foundation, Techiman—99.7 MHz

In a statement issued on February 18, 2025, the Communications Ministry revealed that these entities had failed to renew their licenses, fulfil statutory payment obligations, or submit required documents within the stipulated timeframe.
As a result, their frequency authorisations have expired, making their continued operations illegal under Act 775.
The NCA has been tasked with halting all unauthorised transmissions and ensuring compliance with the law. Further audits and enforcement actions will follow.
The ministry has urged all radio and TV stations to strictly comply with their licensing obligations to avoid similar enforcement measures.
This move signals the government’s renewed commitment to regulatory enforcement in Ghana’s broadcasting industry.
