GHS Confirms 14 New Mpox Cases, Total Rises to 133

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 14 new cases of Mpox, bringing the country’s total number of confirmed infections to 133 as of June 25, 2025.

In its latest update, the GHS noted that despite the rise in cases, there have been no recorded deaths, and no individuals are currently hospitalised, indicating that all active cases are being managed without admission.

The service emphasised that mpox is primarily spread through close contact with infected persons and reiterated the importance of strict adherence to public health protocols to limit further transmission.

“While we are not seeing severe illness or fatalities, we urge the public not to be complacent. The risk of spread remains if safety measures are ignored,” the statement said.

GHS assured the public that it is closely monitoring the outbreak and has activated appropriate response systems to swiftly identify, isolate, and manage any new cases.

Health authorities are also calling on the public to report any symptoms consistent with Mpox — such as rashes, fever, and swollen lymph nodes — and to avoid physical contact with suspected cases.

The service concluded by encouraging continued cooperation from the public to help contain the spread of the virus and maintain Ghana’s zero-death status in the ongoing outbreak.
