Ghana’s FDI Jumps 382% to $862.96m in First Half of 2025- GIPC Reveals
Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Ghana skyrocketed in the first half of 2025, reaching $862.96 million across 76 registered projects, according to new data from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).
The figure marks a 381.91 per cent surge compared to the $179.07 million recorded during the same period in 2024, reflecting renewed investor confidence in Ghana despite lingering global economic uncertainties.
Of the 76 projects registered, the manufacturing sector attracted the highest number of projects at 32, underscoring Ghana’s growing appeal as a hub for industrialisation and value addition.

However, in terms of value, the general trading sector dominated with $622.92 million, accounting for more than two-thirds of the total FDI inflows.
The projects, once fully operational, are expected to create about 4,707 jobs across multiple industries. GIPC officials noted that this job creation potential aligns with government priorities to use FDI as a tool for economic diversification and employment growth.
China emerged as Ghana’s top investment source country by project numbers, registering 22 projects. It was followed by India with 14 projects and Nigeria with eight projects.
Other key contributors included:
- United Arab Emirates (UAE) – 4 projects
- United Kingdom (UK) – 4 projects
- United States – 3 projects
- Liberia, Mauritius, Singapore, and Turkey – 2 projects each
This spread of investors reflects Ghana’s ability to attract diverse interest from both traditional and emerging partners.
GIPC officials highlighted that the 2025 inflows signal investor resilience amid Ghana’s broader economic challenges, including fiscal consolidation under IMF supervision. Analysts say the sharp rebound suggests that Ghana’s reforms, coupled with its strategic position in West Africa, continue to make it a prime destination for foreign capital.
