Ghana Link Network Services Ltd has strongly refuted claims published by Daily Graphic on its X (formerly Twitter) page regarding the visit of the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, and the Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to Tema Port.
The report suggested that the weighbridge system under the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) was “non-operational” at the time of the ministers’ visit. Ghana Link has described this assertion as inaccurate and misleading and wishes to set the record straight.
The company emphasises that the weighbridges at Tema Port were fully functional during the visit and remain operational. The claim that the system was inactive does not reflect the reality on the ground.

Ghana Link further clarifies that the Minister for Transport’s inquiry was focused on enforcement rather than functionality. Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe sought clarification on why some trucks were bypassing the weighbridges and whether all vehicles were being subjected to the process. His concern was not about whether the system was working but rather how compliance was being ensured.
In response, Ghana Link explained that the weighbridge system is currently in its piloting phase, which accounts for the selective enforcement. This phased approach is meant to allow a smooth transition and free flow of traffic while ensuring that all stakeholders adapt to the system before full implementation takes effect.
On the issue of overloaded vehicles, Ghana Link highlighted ongoing efforts to collaborate with Customs, the Ghana Highway Authority, and Port Authorities to establish a seamless data-sharing mechanism on axle weight compliance. Once the system is fully operational, this mechanism will help regulate axle loads effectively.
Ghana Link remains committed to transparency, efficiency, and compliance within Ghana’s trade and logistics ecosystem. The company urges media outlets to prioritise accurate and fact-based reporting to prevent misinformation that could weaken public confidence in important national infrastructure projects.
For further clarification, Ghana Link encourages stakeholders and the general public to seek direct engagement with the company to ensure that accurate information is disseminated.
