Ghana Acquires 10 AI X-Ray, GeneXpert Machines To Strengthen TB Response
The Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has revealed that the government has procured 10 new AI-enabled digital X-ray systems and 15 GeneXpert machines to enhance the country’s fight against tuberculosis (TB).
Speaking at the launch of the 2026 World TB Day in Accra on Tuesday, March 24, she highlighted the government’s commitment to identifying every TB case and ensuring timely treatment for all diagnosed patients.
According to her, the new equipment will expand diagnostic capacity, reduce detection times, and support ongoing initiatives to curb the spread of TB nationwide.

“The Government of Ghana remains fully committed to strengthening the national response to tuberculosis. As part of efforts to improve TB prevention and diagnosis, we have invested in the procurement of 10 new AI-enabled digital X-ray systems and 15 new GeneXpert machines, together with their accessories, to complement existing infrastructure,” she stated.
