Kwaku Ohene Gyan, also known as Osonoba, former Deputy Director of Operations at the National Service Authority (NSA), has been detained by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
He was reportedly arrested on Saturday evening and is currently held at the NIB office in Kawukudi, Accra.
The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, confirmed the detention on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, stating that Osonoba’s lawyers will meet with him on Monday to discuss legal options for bail.

While the exact reason for his detention remains unclear, it follows recent payroll irregularities at the NSA. A headcount by the Ministry of Finance revealed discrepancies, with only 98,145 personnel confirmed as active out of 180,030 names initially submitted, leading to the release of GH₵226,019,224 in payments.
President John Mahama has ordered an investigation into the matter and directed the NSA’s new leadership to implement reforms to prevent future payroll fraud.
