Former MIIF CEO Stopped from Flying Out of Ghana Amid Ongoing Corruption Probe
Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), was intercepted at Kotoka International Airport on the night of July 29, 2025, while attempting to board an international flight without clearance from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Koranteng, who is currently on enquiry bail and under active investigation by the OSP, had reportedly not obtained the required express permission to travel outside the country—a key condition of his bail agreement.
According to security sources, he had unknowingly been placed on a travel “stop list” due to the ongoing probe. Immigration officials flagged the attempted departure and promptly took him into custody before notifying the OSP.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has since taken custody of the former MIIF boss for further legal action. The specific charges or scope of the investigation remain undisclosed, but the development signals intensified scrutiny of high-level financial misconduct within Ghana’s state institutions.
