“These men, now of blessed memory, paid the ultimate price in service to our nation, and their sacrifice must never be forgotten,” the statement read.
FIDA-Ghana extended its deepest condolences to the widows, children, and families of the fallen, as well as to President John Dramani Mahama, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the entire nation.
The statement recalled Hon. Omane Boamah’s strong advocacy during his ministerial vetting for a multifaceted approach to tackling galamsey, which included community engagement, public education, and the promotion of alternative livelihoods. “We pray that his vision will inspire lasting action to protect communities—especially women and children—ensuring they can thrive in safe, healthy, and sustainable environments,” FIDA-Ghana noted.
FIDA-Ghana further urged that the welfare of the widows and children left behind be prioritised as part of the nation’s commitment to honouring the legacy of the fallen heroes.
“As we share in the grief of the bereaved families, it is our fervent prayer that the souls of our dearly departed brethren will rest in eternal peace,” the statement concluded.
