Fetish Priest and Two Others Remanded for Alleged Theft of Communication Cables
The Asante Akropong Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District has remanded a fetish priest and two others into police custody for their alleged involvement in the theft of communication wire cables at Mfensi, near Akropong.
The suspects—Kwabena Appiah Agyei (24), a fetish priest; Eric Kusi (20), a network installer; and Emmanuel Ampofo (22), an electrician—were charged with conspiracy, unlawful entry, causing damage, and theft. They did not enter a plea and are scheduled to reappear in court on March 5, 2025.
Prosecuting the case, Police Detective Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu told the court, presided over by Mrs. Philomena Asiedu, that the complainant, Friday Anwakpa, is the Ashanti Regional Director of Glo Communication Network (Ghana) Company Limited.

According to the prosecution, on January 28, 2025, the accused persons entered the Glo Tower office at Mfensi, disguising themselves as engineers on routine maintenance but were actually stealing communication cables.
Upon receiving a tip-off, the Akropong police, in collaboration with the Abuakwa Divisional Police Patrol team, rushed to the scene and caught the suspects inside the company’s premises. They had already gathered four bundles of communication cables valued at GHS 240,000, ready for transportation.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, revealing that Eric Kusi (A1) called the other two from Tepa to assist in the operation.
Investigations showed that
- A1 climbed the 900-foot communication tower, damaged it, and cut off the wire cables.
- The stolen cables were bundled into four coils for transport.
- The damaged communication tower is valued at GHS 20,000.
Following police investigations, the suspects were charged and arraigned before the court.
The accused persons have been remanded in custody and will appear in court again on March 5, 2025, when their plea will be heard.
