Establish Cabbage Processing Factory In Bosome Freho- MP Tells Mahama

Hon. Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to establish a cabbage processing factory in his constituency to harness the area’s agricultural potential.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament during deliberations on the benefits of Ghana hosting the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Hon. Asafo-Adjei highlighted the large-scale cabbage cultivation in Adieto and surrounding areas in the Bosome Freho District.

“Just as Komenda benefited from a sugar processing plant due to its sugarcane production, Bosome Freho deserves a cabbage processing factory. Cabbage thrives in these areas, and such a factory will position us to feed West Africa and beyond,” he emphasised.

The MP noted that the AfCFTA presents immense economic opportunities for Ghana, referencing World Bank projections of 3 million jobs and a $450 billion economic boost across the continent.

He stressed that strategic investments, such as a cabbage processing facility, would ensure that the people of Bosome Freho benefit directly from these developments.

Hon. Asafo-Adjei also praised Mr. Kwesi Quartey, a former Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, for his instrumental role in securing Ghana’s bid to host the AfCFTA Secretariat.

The proposal aligns with Ghana’s broader industrialisation agenda under the “One District, One Factory” initiative and seeks to position Bosome Freho as a hub for agro-processing in the sub-region.
