Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo Appointed Acting Commissioner of the Gaming Commission of Ghana

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo as the acting commissioner of the Gaming Commission of Ghana.

The appointment, effective January 22, 2025, is in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 67 of the Gaming Act, 2006 (Act 721). It is a temporary appointment, pending the constitutionally required advice from the Governing Board of the Gaming Commission, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Mr. Quainoo’s appointment letter, signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, conveys the President’s confidence in his abilities to lead the Gaming Commission. The letter also requests that Mr. Quainoo confirm his acceptance or otherwise of the role within 14 days of receiving the letter.

The Gaming Commission of Ghana is tasked with the regulation and monitoring of the gaming industry in the country. This includes oversight of casinos, sports betting, and lotteries, ensuring compliance with regulations to promote transparency and integrity within the industry.

President Mahama extended his best wishes to Mr. Quainoo in this new capacity, signalling the administration’s commitment to effective leadership and oversight in one of Ghana’s fastest-growing industries.

Mr. Quainoo’s leadership is expected to bring renewed focus to the Commission’s operations, with a particular emphasis on regulating the evolving gaming and sports betting sectors.
