Drug trafficking allegations not a popularity stunt – Ntim Fordjour

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has addressed recent allegations that the Minority’s stance on the issue of alleged drug trafficking is motivated by a desire for publicity.

Fordjour, speaking on Channel One Newsroom with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Saturday, April 5, firmly rejected claims that his involvement in the matter was for personal gain. He stated, “If I wanted to be popular, I would have released the biggest gospel hit, and then I would have had the biggest viewership. It has nothing to do with it.”

He clarified that the minority’s actions were rooted in their constitutional oversight role, emphasising that their focus was on national safety. “It’s a minority decision to exercise our oversight and particularly to ensure that our country is safe,” Fordjour asserted.

His comments come amidst growing debate over the issue of drug trafficking, with the minority pushing for further investigation into the matter.
