Writing in a heartfelt post on Facebook, Hon. Boamah described the event as a “prayerful, solemn, significant, and unifying” gathering that marked a new chapter for the military establishment.
The ceremony formally inducted five top-ranking officers into office, including:
- Lieutenant General William Agyapong as Chief of the Defence Staff,
- Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu as Chief of the Army Staff,
- Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing as Chief of the Naval Staff,
- Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frimpong as Chief of Air Staff, and
- Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai as Chief of Staff.
According to the defence minister, the appointments and promotions are “well-deserved” and represent a symbol of trust in the capacity of the armed forces’ top brass to uphold peace, national sovereignty, and stability.
“I am confident in the competence, patriotism, and integrity of the leadership that has taken the helm of our armed forces,” he said. “They’ll add to the gains and help reset the military as they confront the challenges of an intensely volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world.”
The service, led by Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, featured a stirring sermon on leadership, morality, and servanthood in public office. Hon. Boamah expressed deep appreciation to the clergy for their spiritual guidance during the ceremony.
The occasion brought together senior government officials, security chiefs, clergy, and family members of the inductees. Notable attendees included:
- Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, Minister for the Interior and National Security;
- Hon. Brogya Gyamfi, Deputy Minister for Defence;
- Hon. James Agalga, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior;
- IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Inspector General of Police;
- Nancy Ampofo, Esq., Member of the Armed Forces Council;
- Brig. Gen. Mantey, Head of the Narcotics Control Commission;
- Brig. Gen. Annan, Commissioner of the Customs Division, GRA.
The induction service served not only as a spiritual send-off for the top military officers but also as a national moment to underscore the importance of ethics and professionalism in military leadership. It comes at a time when regional security threats and geopolitical instability demand responsive and disciplined armed forces.
Hon. Boamah reiterated that the newly appointed commanders must not only lead troops in defence of Ghana’s sovereignty but also personify the values of discipline, integrity, and national service in all public conduct.
“Your elevation is not only a personal milestone but also a call to greater national duty,” he wrote.
The induction is expected to strengthen morale within the Armed Forces and solidify command structures, as Ghana looks to enhance internal security and regional defence cooperation in a fast-changing security environment.
