President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern ultimatum to all government appointees who have failed to comply with asset declaration laws, warning they will be automatically dismissed if they do not meet a final deadline of Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
The President’s directive was delivered during the launch of a new Code of Conduct for government appointees in Accra on Monday.
The initiative forms part of his administration’s broader efforts to enhance transparency, integrity, and accountability within public office.

President Mahama, visibly resolute, stressed that failure to declare assets undermines public trust and would not be tolerated.
“If by close of day, Wednesday, 7th May 2025, any of you still fails to declare your assets, count yourself automatically dismissed, because when it comes to protecting the integrity of this government, I will not compromise,” he said.
The President’s announcement follows the lapse of an earlier March 31 deadline, which some appointees failed to observe. In response, Mahama also introduced financial sanctions: appointees who missed the March deadline will forfeit three months’ salary and make a mandatory one-month salary donation to the MahamaCares Fund.
The enforcement of asset declaration laws is a key element of the government’s 120-day Social Contract, which includes a series of institutional reforms to promote good governance and ethical conduct in public service.
