The Tamale High Court has ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election, directing the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct a fresh poll within 30 days following a successful legal challenge to the 2024 results.
The ruling, delivered by His Lordship Emmanuel Brew Plange, comes after the former MP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, filed a petition disputing the election of Matthew Nyindam.
Wakpal argued that the December 7, 2024, parliamentary election in Kpandai was invalid due to serious irregularities in the conduct and collation of results. He cited inconsistencies on FORM 8A (Pink Sheets) in 41 out of 152 polling stations, stating that the anomalies breached key provisions of Regulations 39 and 43 of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I. 127).

According to the petition:
- The election was not conducted in compliance with Regulation 39, and the breaches materially affected the final outcome.
- The declaration and publication of results also violated Regulation 43, compromising the legitimacy of the entire process.
Wakpal sought to have the flawed results set aside and requested a court-directed rerun in the affected polling stations.
Justice Plange, after reviewing the evidence, upheld the petition and ruled in favour of the NDC candidate.
He ordered the Electoral Commission to conduct a new parliamentary election in Kpandai to determine the lawful winner of the seat.
