The Techiman High Court has dismissed an election petition filed by Christopher Beyere Baasongti, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the 2024 elections, against Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Techiman South.
Baasongti challenged the election results announced by the Electoral Commission (EC) and gazetted on January 7, 2025, filing his petition on January 27, 2025.
However, on January 31, 2025, Adjei Mensah Korsah’s legal team, led by Gary Nimako Marfo, submitted a motion seeking the dismissal of the petition.

The MP argued that Baasongti failed to fulfil the legal requirement of providing security for costs within 21 days of the gazette notification, as required by Section 18(2) of the Representation of the People Law, 1992 (PNDCL 284). The failure to meet this requirement, he contended, rendered the petition invalid.
On February 17, 2025, the High Court ruled in favour of Adjei Mensah Korsah, declaring that the petition was not properly filed due to the lack of security for costs within the required timeframe.
Baasongti was represented by lawyer Abdul-Hameed Zakaria, while the NPP’s Director of Legal Affairs, Gary Nimako Marfo, represented Adjei Mensah Korsah.
With this ruling, Adjei Mensah Korsah remains the duly elected Member of Parliament for Techiman South.
