Clarify Your Position On LGBTQ+ — Religious Leader Urges Mahama
Bishop Dr Samuel N. Mensah, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Full Gospel Church International (FGCI), has called on President John Dramani Mahama to publicly reaffirm his position on LGBTQ+ matters.
In a statement released on April 1, 2026, Bishop Mensah said the request follows assurances President Mahama made during his Mahama Fellowship engagements with the clergy before the 2024 general elections.
“Those moments were not merely political engagements; they were solemn exchanges rooted in trust, shared values, and moral responsibility,” he said.
Bishop Mensah described national leadership as both administrative and moral, urging the president to uphold commitments made before God, the clergy, and the nation.
“Clarity is not optional; it is essential. The silence or ambiguity surrounding this matter risks creating uncertainty among citizens, particularly within the faith community,” he added.
Highlighting Ghana’s strong faith, family structures, and cultural values, Bishop Mensah emphasised that national leadership must reflect the beliefs and aspirations of the people.
He urged President Mahama to offer “a clear, principled, and consistent position” that aligns with his earlier assurances and the moral convictions of Ghanaians.
The bishop stressed that such clarity would reinforce public confidence and demonstrate the integrity, accountability, and statesmanship expected of a national leader.
