The Council of State election in the Ashanti Region was marred by violence and chaos after a group of heavily built men stormed the polling station, disrupting what had been a peaceful voting process.
Eyewitnesses report that the attackers destroyed Electoral Commission (EC) materials and physically assaulted journalists covering the event. The violent disruption forced election officials to halt proceedings, with security forces yet to fully restore calm in the area.
