Carpenter Who Slashed Throat of Security Guard During Argument at Kyebi Presby College Arrested Over Killing of Security Guard
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 37-year-old carpenter, identified as Kwame Arhin, also known as Abompe, in connection with the killing of a security guard at the Kyebi Presbyterian College of Education in the Eastern Region.
Arhin was picked up on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after police tracked him to a bush near the school, where he was hiding following the incident.
According to a statement from the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Regional Command, the victim, Jonas Baah Sarpong, served as a security guard at the college. His body was discovered near the Kyebi Court Complex on Saturday, November 15, 2025, after a distress call alerted the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the attack stemmed from a disagreement between Sarpong and the suspect. Police say Arhin allegedly slashed the security guard’s throat with a cutlass before fleeing the scene.
A Crime Scene Management team conducted a full examination of the area, after which the body was moved to the Kyebi Government Hospital mortuary. The remains were later transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.
DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Public Affairs Officer for the command, confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody.
“The suspect is in custody being processed for court whilst the investigation is ongoing,” he said.
Police assure the public that all necessary investigative steps are being taken to ensure justice for the victim and his family.
