A public interest advocate, Rodaline Imoru Ayarna, has urged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to take all necessary measures, including unconventional methods if needed, to bring former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta back to Ghana for questioning over ongoing investigations.
Her call follows the OSP’s recent declaration of Ofori-Atta as a fugitive and his placement on the office’s wanted list after repeatedly failing to honour invitations for questioning.
Speaking on TV3’s New Day on February 13, 2025, Rodaline Ayarna stated that Ofori-Atta must be held accountable for his role in various financial dealings under investigation, particularly through his company, Databank.

“We are being told by his lawyers that he has gone for medical treatment and is out of the jurisdiction indefinitely. What does that mean? In very cool terms, he has absconded,” she argued. “If the OSP declares him a fugitive, I think it’s in the right direction.”
She further insisted that Ofori-Atta must return to Ghana to answer for his alleged involvement in financial transactions that have had serious consequences on the country’s economy.
Ken Ofori-Atta is currently under investigation for several cases, including:
- The ECG-Beijing Jao loss reduction contract
- Procurement irregularities related to the National Cathedral project
- Health Ministry contracts awarded to Service Ghana Auto Limited/Ambulances
- The SML-GRA revenue assurance deal
Madam Rodaline stressed that Ofori-Atta’s involvement in Ghana’s financial sector, particularly his company’s alleged role in benefiting from government loans, warrants full accountability.
“We’ve read and heard that almost all loans contracted in this country had a share going to his company, Databank. He benefitted from our woes,” she claimed.
The advocate also referenced the economic hardship caused by financial policies under Ofori-Atta’s tenure, including the haircut on investments that affected pensioners and the general public.
“As Ghanaians, we owe it to ourselves to make sure that Ken Ofori-Atta is brought back to answer for all these,” she emphasised.
The OSP has reaffirmed its determination to use all legal avenues to compel Ofori-Atta to return to Ghana and assist with ongoing investigations.
However, Ayarna’s strong stance suggests that public frustration over the former minister’s absence is growing, with increasing demands for decisive action.
“The world is watching,” Rodaline Ayarna cautioned, urging authorities to act swiftly to uphold justice and financial accountability.
