Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari, the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has decided to proceed on leave starting February 5, 2025, ahead of the completion of his tenure.
His decision has been approved by President John Dramani Mahama.
Dr. Opoku-Afari was first appointed to the role on August 7, 2017, for a four-year term and was reappointed for a second term on August 7, 2021. Under the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612), as amended, his tenure is set to conclude on August 6, 2025, after serving the maximum two terms permitted by law.
In a statement, the Bank of Ghana expressed its appreciation for Dr. Opoku-Afari’s dedicated service to the institution and the country, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
