Bawumia Is An Epitome of Deception- Fifi Kwetey Blasts Bawumia Over Economic Mismanagement
General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has launched a blistering attack on former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, branding him the “epitome of deception” and accusing him of gross irresponsibility in Ghana’s economic decline.
Speaking on Face to Face on Channel One TV with host Umaru Sanda Amadu, Mr Kwetey questioned Dr Bawumia’s credibility as the former head of the Economic Management Team, asserting that he consistently misled Ghanaians and lacked the moral courage to own up to his failures.
“Bawumia is an epitome of deception. It’s the truth. At every step, he was more interested in spinning stories than telling the truth,” Kwetey said. “He didn’t have the courage to own up to the fact that they mismanaged the economy. He was the head of the Economic Management Team — it was not a symbolic role; he was in charge.”

Mr Kwetey accused Dr Bawumia of deserting his leadership responsibilities when the Ghanaian economy began to falter, shifting blame instead of taking accountability.
“When the moment came for the difficulties to be acknowledged, he ran away. He pretended and said he was not in charge — it wasn’t him. That in itself tells you: you are not a leader; you are a coward,” he added.
The NDC chief did not mince words as he described the former vice president as morally unfit to lead, warning that such characteristics are dangerous in anyone aspiring to the presidency.
“You don’t have a sense of responsibility. You cannot take accountability. And if you don’t have these attributes, you dare not think of the leadership of any country. Because you are morally weak.”
Fifi Kwetey’s remarks come as the 2024 general elections approach, with the political temperature rising and public debate intensifying over the legacies of the two major parties.
