Azumah Resources Signs $37m Deal For Black Volta Gold Project

Azumah Resources has entered into a $37.5 million procurement agreement with leading Danish mining technology firm FLSmidth (FLS) to speed up development of the Black Volta and Sankofa gold concessions.

The deal secures key long-lead equipment such as crushers, mills, processing systems, and technical support packages, which typically takes close to a year to manufacture. By acquiring them early, the company expects to substantially shorten its development timeline as it prepares for full-scale gold production.,

Speaking to journalists after the signing ceremony, Director of Azumah Resources, Noel Addo, said the procurement move is critical to keeping the project on schedule.

“These items will take close to forty-six weeks to manufacture, so we need to pay for them now while we start getting the other items as well. That is the essence of today’s ceremony. FLS is well known in the mining industry; their presence alone gives us so much leverage,” he said.

FLS Vice President for Capital Sales in Europe, Arabia, and Africa, Alistair Mackay, noted that the company is committed to delivering cutting-edge technology that improves efficiency and output.

“The signing today is really around the long-lead items. There’s going to be a lot of equipment. We expect to start installations early next year and anticipate that six months from now we will see construction,” he explained.

The procurement agreement comes after E&P’s $100 million settlement in October 2025 to fully acquire the Black Volta and Sankofa concessions from former foreign shareholders of Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd, a resolution that ended months of ownership disputes and cleared the way for rapid development.

FLSmidth will supply a comprehensive range of long-lead mining and processing equipment, including:

  • Gyratory and Raptor cone crushers
  • SAG and ball mills
  • Pre-leach thickener
  • Screens and apron feeders
  • KREBS cyclones and pumps
  • Absorption, desorption, refining, and detox systems

The company will also offer engineering support, site installation, commissioning, training for local teams, and a performance guarantee for the new processing plant.

Delivery of the equipment is expected in 2026, ahead of the planned mine start-up in 2027.
