Attorney General Ayine Fires Back at A Plus Over Corruption Allegations: “I’m Ready to Walk Into the Mud”
The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has fiercely responded to corruption allegations made against him by musician-turned-political-activist Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, April 30, Dr Ayine dismissed the claims, asserting they were baseless and fuelled by misinformation about political campaign support he received ahead of the last elections.
“I am reliably informed that his basis for saying that I am corrupt and a thief is that I took campaign contributions from a businessman at East Legon known as Dr Sledge and that he also knows the people who donated pickups for my campaign,” Dr Ayine stated.

The Attorney General firmly defended the practice of receiving campaign donations, stressing that it does not amount to corruption or theft.
“Now if receiving donations for your campaign or getting a pickup for a campaign is thievery or corruption, then there are 276 thieves in Parliament, including the person who was making the allegation himself,” he declared, referencing the 275 Members of Parliament, including A Plus, who once aspired to political office.
Dr Ayine did not mince words in cautioning A Plus against what he described as reckless public accusations. He challenged the activist to come forward with any credible evidence and warned that he would not shy away from a confrontation.
“But let him be warned that in my hometown we do not fear mud being thrown at us. On the contrary, we walk into the mud to deal with the person doing the mudslinging,” Ayine said.
He concluded with a bold statement aimed directly at A Plus: “I am prepared to walk into the mud with A Plus because what I have about him and the National Service scandal, he should come and tell you. I am challenging him.”
Dr Ayine’s remarks have sparked widespread reaction on social media, with some calling for A Plus to respond with proof, while others urge restraint and transparency from public officials.
A Plus is yet to issue a formal response to the Attorney General’s challenge.
